From 14:30pm to 15:30pm
A new care home in Bromsgrove is helping to create a dementia-friendly community by hosting a Dementia Friends session on Wednesday 23rd May.
From 2.30-3.30pm, Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, is inviting the community to mark Dementia Awareness Week with a free event to learn more about what it is like to live with dementia.
Dementia Friends Champion, and customer relations manager for Care UK, Jim MacLeod, will be on hand to discuss how best to turn knowledge into action to help create a more dementia friendly community in Bromsgrove. Visitors will also be treated to coffee and cakes.
Jo Gill, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “Here at Chandler Court we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those looking after a loved one living with dementia.
“We want to educate people, but also help the community turn their knowledge into action by making our community more aware of those living with dementia – and Dementia Awareness Week is the perfect opportunity to do just that. We look forward to welcoming members of the local community to our event on Wednesday 23rd May to raise awareness of what life is like living with dementia.”
Chandler Court is a state-of-the art care home, which features 81 ensuite bedrooms, and has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence.
